Classroom Residencies

Inspired Child takes a three-pronged approach to improving early childhood education. We offer classroom residencies with professional teaching artists to schools and child development centers, we provide certified professional development for educators, and we hold family workshops that show families ways they can support their child’s literacy development at home.

Dancing with Books™

How it Works

Each year, Inspired Child partners with many different DC public schools, charter schools, and child development centers to bring multi-week arts-based classroom residencies to early learners. With our team of incredible teaching artists, the Dancing With Books™ program uses music, movement, and visual arts to support classroom learning standards and promote cognitive and  social emotional development.

Dancing with Babies™

How it Works

Dancing With Babies™ is a classroom residency specifically for infants and toddlers (children ages birth to three). Developed in collaboration with Dr. Jessica Phillips-Silver, a researcher in the Department of Neuroscience at Georgetown University Medical Center, our innovative, research-based program weaves the arts, brain science, and human connection to produce positive developmental outcomes for infants and toddlers.

Rainbowdance®

How it Works

Rainbowdance, created by the Boston Children’s Foundation, is a trauma-informed music and movement program for toddlers. This program is geared towards children ages 18 months to 36 months and the adults who care for them. This unique arts-based program fosters the social and emotional skills necessary for children to thrive, and it offers children the opportunity to express themselves.
